The Wilderness Awaits....

Today, I wanted to share a quick card using The Wilderness Awaits stamp set from the annual catalog.  We can always use more masculine cards and this lovely set has four different animal images to choose from.  This is perfect for hunters or any man for that matter.  My husband gave the card a thumbs up.

The base of the card is Crumb Cake with an embossed Crumb Cake layer on top.  I used a piece of Serene Scenery DSP on top of that and a strip of 5/8" Burlap Ribbon. These colors make a wonderful monochromatic look.

Use a 6" x 6" piece of DSP, then score at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2", and then score at 5-1/2" on the other side for a bottom flap, miter tab corners and adhere to make a pocket.  Add a cute tag and a Hershey bar fits right inside.  

Cards for boys...

I have two cards for boys to share with you today.  The first one is for a younger boy.  I love dinosaurs, Jurassic Park movies, etc., so I really enjoyed coming up with this card.  It features the No Bones About It photopolymer stamp set.

Colors used: Cajun Craze, Old Olive, Tip Top Taupe and Whisper White.  This is a great use of some of the 18 stamps in this set.  I also used a bit of the Go Wild Designer Series Paper Stack.  Who would love getting this card?  Me!!!

Our second card today is more for a teen and features a Pokemon ball.  No, most adults don't really get it, but trust me, the kids do.

I had shown this to my youngest and it was her favorite (she's 18).  I had her help me think of words to go with the card and she picked out "adventure bound".  The story is about a boy going on a Pokemon adventure, so it fits perfectly.  The inside of the card says "life is good - happy birthday".  I used the 2-1/2", 3/4", 1/2" and Owl Builder Punch to make all the circles.  I used the Simply Scored Tool to make the raised lines on the White card stock.  The words are from the Project Life Remember This stamp set.  That's one of my favorite PL items.

Big News about My Paper Pumpkin & Look Up to Father!

It's been so busy here at the house that I haven't had a chance to post much.  Too many end of the year activities, lots of Girl Scout happenings and the girls moving back into the house.  I've been working on a couple of power point slide shows for graduating girl scouts and we worked on our scrapbooks last night.  Tomorrow night, we go to an awards dinner and then our final meeting/night out with my troop.  I will probably be bawling my eyes out.  I've already cried a couple times today while finishing up 13 years of photos for the slide show.  Yikes!  I've been a leader for 15 years - 2 in Florida and 13 with this one troop.  I can't believe it!  One more year with Samantha's group and then I'll take a well deserved break - whew.

I love how the Look Up to Father stamp coordinates with the Hardwood Background Stamp.  How gorgeous is this?!  

She mixed the Hardwood Stamp with the Woodgrain Embossing folder with a little of the 7/16" Natural Trim.

I took this photo behind me (we were close to the front) and although no one seems to be looking too happy, they really were.  I think they were just anxious to get started.  

The live event was in Long Beach, CA and was joined by 39 other locations around the US and Canada with over 7500 demonstrators participating.

So today, I'm sharing a card from CrEW stamper Janet Hathcoat.  This is a fun masculine card using the Hexagon Punch.

Janet used the Hexagon Punch to make the nuts, then the 1/2" Circle Punch for the insides. She used an alphabet set for the "NUTS" part of the verse.  

A little sponging with Silver metallic ink gives them a great sheen.
