Come back for the SUDSOL Blog Tour - Sept 11, 2013

Todays guest CrEW Stamper is Laura Diamond.  This amazing WOW swap wowed us all!  The highlighting of the dry embossed background was rubbed with the Silver Ink pad for a rich and glamorous look.

Laura added each layer of glitter separately on the witch's boot.

A closer look at the brushed silver ink details.  Beautiful!

All wood-mount sets will come in these awesome boxes with images and stamp set name on the spine.  Empty cases will also be available to purchase if you want to transfer your current sets into the new boxes.  They stand upright and will fit better on your shelves.  Watch the video for a closer look!

Who doesn't love embossing?  It's so easy with our Embossing Folders to just run it through the Big Shot and in just a couple seconds, have a great looking texture to your project!  We have a page full of wonderful and versatile Embossing Folders in our catalog, but we also have several new ones in the Spring Mini. Here are a few ideas for using them:

This adorable card was made by Carol Payne.  She used the Cloudy Day EF, along with our Cupcake Builder Punch to create a sky with clouds.  She also used the Houndstooth EF to create an added texture on the sun, with the rays punched using the Petite Penant Builder Punch.

JoAnn Freant made this fun card using the Cloudy Day EF on the Bashful Blue card stock (one of our retiring colors).  The small images are from the Spring Sampler stamp set.
Ann Cunningham used the Honeycomb Embossing Folder to create an interesting background for the quick and simple card.  Pretty in Pink is also one of our retiring colors, so stock up now!

Cheryl Howe also used the Honeycomb EF for her textured background.  She paired it with the International Bazaar DSP and the Just Thinking stamp for a completely different look and feel.

The last project this week featuring the Bootiful Occasions stamp set is a card using the rain boot.  This is my favorite boot in the set - too cute!!!

This card was inspired by a card from convention. I used all the colors of the rainbow ROYGBIV, and some white scallop borders for a cloud-like effect.  The rainbow pieces are 1/2" x 4".

Dazzling Diamonds Glitter really makes the clouds on the boot and the rainbow shine!

This adorable card was made by Fran Sabad.  She used the Floral District DSP and Polka Dot Embossing Folder on the front.  The scallop border was made with the Scallop Edge Border Punch.

The flowers are from the Easy Events stamp set on page 34 in the Catalog. I love the detail with the Pearls in the center of the flowers, and the Word Window Punch folded over with the Daffodil Brad.

Today's post features the Holiday boot from the Bootiful Occasions stamp set.  Here is the card we made at the stamp camp:

Don't you love the new Sweater Trim?  The DSP is from Snow Festival pack in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

To make this fun fold card, cut a piece of card stock 4-1/4" x 11", score at 2-3/4" and 5-1/2".  Fold the card in half and crease, then fold the front scored flap back and crease.  Open up, then put the 2-3/4" crease in the center of the 3-1/2" Circle Die, line up the top cutting plate with the crease, then run through the Big Shot.  This will cut 1/2 circle.  Emboss the remainder of the front flap with the Polka Dot EF, then close.

A little 2-Way Glue Pen and some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter make this card pop!
This next card is one we made at a Shoebox Swap we attended the last night of convention.  I cased this and used it for my Christmas in July swap with a few minor changes.

I don't know who designed this card, but she used the Top Note Die for the background piece, then ran it through the Big Shot with the Petals-a-Plenty Embossing Folder.  She covered the flat inside of the EF with Early Espresso ink, then placed the Cherry Cobbler CS inside and embossed it.  This puts ink on the flat part of the design and leaves the flowers red.

The Scallop Trim Corner Punch and Pearls Basic Jewels add some elegance to the card.

Today's project is a 2 pocket card and gift card holder.  I'm also including a photo tutorial - whoohoo!  Working on some videos tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes - lol!

Here's the project:
I used the new Orchard Harvest DSP from the Holiday Mini.

In one pocket, you can place a note card and then in the other, you can put a gift card. The inside Island Indigo card stock is cut at 3-1/2" x 2-3/4".  The Very Vanilla card stock is cut at 3-1/4" x 2-1/2"

Step 1 - Cut an 8" x 8" piece of Designer Series Paper or card stock.  You will place it wrong side up on your Simply Scored Diagonal Plate.  Score on the following lines (rotating to the left for each side):
     Side 1 - Score at 0, 1-1/4", 6-1/8"
     Side 2 - Score at 2-7/8"
     Side 3 - Score at 1-1/4", 6-1/8"
     Side 4 - Score at 2-1/2"

Placing the paper with points pointing toward you and the 3 center score marks pointing across, fold in the outside score lines as shown above.

Bring the top down towards you and fold in half, creasing well.

Fold back on the other 2 score lines to make an accordion fold in the middle and crease.

Fold down the top points, punch a hole through the top and tie in a piece of Linen Thread and tag.  I used the 1-1/4" and 1-3/8" Circle Punches for the tag.

Here is the back side of the holder.  You can add another card and/or gift card, money, candy, etc.

 Supplies:

More Mustard Marker  119701 Regals Marker Collection
Very Vanilla card stock  101650
Cajun Craze card stock  119684
Island Indigo card stock  122923

Here's another card using the Orchard Harvest DSP:

Mary Harvey designed this card for our Demonstrator Meeting make and take this month. She used the brayer to make a "reflection" image of the cowboy boot.

I love the pierced oval around the words.  We used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce the oval. I also love the Early Espresso Baker's Twine wrapped around the card.  The boots are heat embossed with Early Espresso Embossing Powder.

Yesterday, I featured a masculine cowboy boot.  So today, I'm going to show you a few feminine cards using the cowboy boot from the Bootiful Occasions stamp set.

This is the card we made at the stamp camp:

The card base is a piece of Basic Black Card Stock cut with the Scallop Square Clear Die. The Whisper White card is cut 4" x 8" for a 4x4 card.  I used some of the Regal Rose DSP From the Color Collections Packs.

Whoops!  A gem is trying to get away!  I've fixed that, but didn't want to take another photo - it's getting late!

The card front says "Happy Boot Day" and the inside says "Kick up your heels!" How cute is that???

Here are a couple more swaps:
This adorable card was made by Judi Anderson. It seems like we all had the same idea adding the Rhinestones to our "girly" boots.
I can't believe they took away our Star Die.  It's perfect for this card. Sigh.....

I don't know who designed this card, but it's quick and simple. I would add this to a Whisper White card stock base. Love the new Polka Dot Parade DSP in the Catalog and the Labels Collection Framelits.

A little more bling with Rhinestones Basic Jewels and the words are heat embossed with VersaMark and Gold EP. CUTE!!!

Today I'm going to share a few masculine cards made with the Cowboy Boot stamp from the Bootiful Occasions stamp set.

This is the card we made at the stamp camp.  It's a gate fold card.  The  Crumb Cake CS measures 5-1/2" x 8-1/2", then is scored at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8".  Fold in the 2 side panels and crease.  The woodgrain panels are made with the new Core'dinations Early Espresso Card Stock, embossed with the new Woodgrain EF in the Holiday Mini, then sanded with a Stampin' Sanding Block.

With the card 1/2 open, you can see I added a piece of flagged Very Vanilla CS to the left side. The Cherry Cobbler CS on the right is raised with Dimensionals on the top and bottom, so when you close the card, the Vanilla tab slides under the Cherry Cobbler CS on the opposite side.

For a little added detail, I pierced several holes on the boot image, then sewed Linen Thread around all the image layers.

Here are a couple swaps I wanted to share:
Here is a card made by Rosemarrie Gonzalez
She used a little colored thin metal then embossed it with the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.
Here's a card made by Tina Taggart-Smith.  She used the new Chevron EF for the Not Quite Navy background. I love the silver spur made from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a Silver Mini Brad.
The hitching post and rope are my favorite parts of this card. The post was made with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder too (but it's turned over so you only see the flat side).  She used a little hemp twine for the rope.
